Figurative Artist Olga Röhl -Germany

To understand what is going on around you have to understand yourself. Dolls are my philosophical reflections of life and myself.

Welcome by Olga Roehl, Figurative Artist - Switzerland and Germany

Svetlana Haenko about Olga

They are of the same age - the author and her characters, mysterios, sexy and enigmatic. Vulnerability and and sensitivity of these images, their magnificence, elegant and almost grotesque grace, and their deep sorrow are obviously portraits. being so diverse the dolls reflect the inner world of their author, her personal space and experience.

They exist in a flash between reality and myth, which Olga Röhl creates for herself and about herself. Her strong, passionate and feminine nature provokes spectators interaction with these images. Esthetic enjoyment is unexpectedly replaced by understanding of their entire self-sufficiency and independence, as well as their small forms are percepted only like the way to express both miserable and wonderful features each person has inside.

Awarded by quite human lonelineas and eroticism the dolls by Olga Röhl are submerged by their own feelings, senses and dreams. You see those movements of soul not only in their faces, but also in the lean of head or in the bend of toes. It's like in the dance where all the limbs transform thought into movement. They dance, her dolls. It feels like their strict balance is only a twinkling followed by a new gesture. No static in their postures full of inner action, in their flying hair and streaming cloth, in brust of colours, which are extremely emotional. The color of these fancy dresses lives, moves, gathers and disperses and when being too tense is extinguished by the splendour of luxurious cloth or black accents. Thecolour is one of the major features of the images mental state. When looking into their faces you are affected by fragile and emotional openness, even if they are wearing masks. The artist suggests that the doll itself is a pretty nude object. Therefore sometimes the fancy ball of our life placed into the dolls world is more real and evident than reality.

' My dolls are an assembled image of myself in different periods of time, my autobiography', confesses O.R. 'It's my escape from myself, my salvation and despair happiness and boundless longing for the unhappened. It's like expectation as well.' I'd love to add: expectation hers and ours. Expectation of new meeting with her images and that emotional experience her dolls present us.
